Preparation
- Vehicle safety: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a dust mask will protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to vacuum out the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation location is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: No tools are required for the replacement.
- Access: The filter is located in the front passenger footwell, on the left next to the center console. Slide the seat all the way back and recline the backrest as far as possible to give yourself maximum working space.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Locate the housing in the footwell
Look at the trim on the left side of the front passenger footwell, next to the center console. There you will see the filter housing's vertical plastic cover. -
Open the filter housing cover
Push the retaining tab on the underside of the duct cover upward/inward and remove the cover. -
Remove the old filter
Pull the old, flexible cabin air filter downward and backward out of the duct. -
Insert the new filter
If necessary, gently pre-bend the new cabin air filter and carefully slide it into the vertical duct.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the side of the filter must point backward (toward the rear)!
💡 Pro tip: Gently compress the filter in a concertina-like manner along the long sides as you insert it - it will unfold completely flush again on its own inside the duct!
-
Close the housing
Place the housing cover on top and press it firmly until the retaining tab audibly and noticeably clicks into place.
